Quick Simple Delicious Fish Stew

Our favorite Fish Stew with Aioli

I ate Fish Stew at a restaurant on a very cold day.   It tasted so good and I tried to make the stew at home.

It's quick, easy, and delicious.

Homework board and some extra work.

God morning!
It's a beautiful Tuesday.

I worked from last Tuesday to yesterday(Monday) and I was very tired.  It's just hard to keep up with the housework when I work a lot.  I like my job but I love to spend time with my boy after school and on the weekends.  I'd love to have an organized house for my family.  Now my kitchen is a mess and a mountain of dirty laundry is waiting for me.

My favorite mug I bought in London.

I made coffee and I went out to breathe the fresh air.  Hoping that a breathe of the fresh air and coffee help me to stay focused.

Homework board

Every Friday Hugo's teacher assign homework on the school website.   I write his home work down on the post it notes, using different colors for the subjects.

I laminated a sheet of paper which says "homework" in Swedish and I thought that we could write direct on it with whiteboard markers and we could erase them.   But it did not come off easily.  So I began using post it notes.

Yellow is for English
Blue is for Social Science
Purple is for Swedish

I write on the corner of the notes the day when the homework is due.  This helps Hugo plan when he does his homework.  Some homework is hard and Hugo must work on it several times in a week.  On Tuesdays he has violin lessons and we come home about o'clock and he doesn't have time to do homework.
So he must plan his week and this system is working.

Extra work?

Hugo is 10 years old and he speaks Swedish, Japanese, and English.  He is really good at English.  When we were in London, he made himself understood in English without our help.

His English homework for this week is to memorize ten words.  Well, he knows these words already so I added some extra words for him to work on.

I don't want to give him too much, but homework should be a little challenging.  Not too much and not too difficult.  But if it is too easy, he'll lose interests?

Now I' m going back to my house work!  I'm going to tackle the mountain of the dirty laundry!

Happy Tuesday!

hot dogs at a frozen lake

On the second day at Suzuki camp in Rättvik, we enjoyed being outside in the very cold weather.
Lake was frozen and some kids and adults skated on the ice.

I fetched some firewood.

Putte was the grill master!

Putte and I were in charge of hot dogs, and we grilled a lot of hot dogs!

Hugo was very tired after the two violin lessons in the morning, and he didn't want to skate.  He helped us with the hot dogs.  He opened so many hot dog packages.
When his friend came back from the skating, he left us and hot dogs.

Hugo and two friends were just picking up ice and having fun for a long time.   I didn't think that Hugo would play with ice or water at this age(he is 10!) , and I didn't pack extra clothes and shoes.  Hugo borrowed Putte's shoes in the afternoon.

Hot dogs tasted good and we all had a wonderful time at the frozen lake.  They had two violin lessons in the afternoon and they played beautiful music.

Monday at home.

Pretty Bonnie

It's Monday and I am off today.  I have to catch up with house work, cleaning, doing laundry and cooking...  I am so behind.

Hugo was feeling sick yesterday night and he couldn't sleep well.  I'm keeping him home from school today.  He is feeling much better so we are going to do some reading, do maths homework and play the violin.

Bonnie loves to lay beside me when I am sitting in front of my computer.
When I am at home, Bonnie comes out to play with me.  She loves being stroked on her forehead.  She complains when I stop stroking her.
Now she is sleeping on my backpack.....

excuse me, you are sleeping on my backpack....
My to do list today

*do laundry
*clean the bathrooms and the kitchen
*cook
*do some reading with Hugo
*help Hugo with his maths homework
*play the violin with Hugo

Now get to work.

Happy Monday!

Spelhelg i Rättvik / Violin weekend in Rättvik

We spent a lovely weekend here i Rättvik.

Hugo was very tired and he felt sick after his floor ball training on Thursday evening, so I was worried that we might have to stay home.

On the next day after sleeping a lot, he felt fine and we packed our suitcases.  We cleaned our house and played with Bonnie (our rabbit).  Bonnie got some treats because she stayed home alone.

We drove about 2 hours from our house to Rättvik, Dalarna.

Hugo slept in the car.

When we arrived at Rättvik, it was too dark outside to see anything.  Next morning we were surprised to see how beautiful it was here.
